National Lampoon's Animal House
(1978) Comedy. John Belushi, Tim Matheson. (M)

So many many happy memories! :hehe: :hehe: It used to be required post Sunday Session viewing/recitation with the boys. And I actually owned a house that was scarily similar. But it was called 'The Pit'.

And just to watch Belushi be....Belushi again. Priceless.

Why the fsuck can't movies celebrating and encouraging this level of complete irreverent anarchy be made anymore? 80's was a golden period.

John Landis and all his crew were genius.

Haven't seen that.

I truly owned a real house (it was basically a cunning way to secure $1500 first home owners grant which I then splurged on a week of extraordinary excess for everyone who lived there).

'The Pit' was legendary in Yeppoon. We made the local papers a couple of times through antics. Including when we decided to live on the roof one weekend. So all the furniture came out (beds, all of it) and we lived our lives on the roof for three days.

I actually feel a hint of regret for the neighbours. Man, they suffered.

That place was like a war zone on weekends. Half the pub would just show up after closing fri, sat, sun.

I'd be 50/50 on if that isn't actually J.D given his predilections and propensity.

I love this film.

Ok. Cape Fear. The remake. I've always been in two minds about it. I really like it but then I don't. It can come across as very staged, but then that seems to suit it's rhythm. Nolte is annoying as usual. And of course De Niro is just terrifying. And it is directed by Scorsese........

Meh, I watched my son and the rest of his 5/6/7 year old buddies perform a Little Drummer Boy derivative.

It was quite good, well written and the direction and acting was great.

Some grey-lens was there recording video. Let's see if it's any better than what I did last year (and the year before)

Mmmmmm. A bunch of kids attempting Little Drummer Boy v Cape Fear?. I know one of them is yours, but really I mean it's Scorsese/DeNiro!

At least they tried! Personally I'd still watch Cape Fear.

Surely DeNiro is not a 'normal' person. I mean I know it's acting which is his profession and he collects art, but sometimes when you watch it, it just goes way way beyond that. There is no way you could pull this stuff off at this level and not be seeing a professional in your private time about you personal issues.

Or maybe that's why he acts and makes a fortune. I'll have to think about that.

Quite a strange, different film.

I do not recommend watching it stoned.

Excellent!!!

Pub and pool is cancelled.

8.30pm
Inception
(2010) Action. Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe. (M)

You have to have your brain in 5th gear to keep up with it though. Brilliant ending.

Leonardo should star in every film that is made forthwith. And Christopher Nolan should direct them.

Trust me I spent a LOT of time thinking about it.

That'd be a cop out. It's not hard to figure out either.

Go on, let's see your great intelligence.

Yeah, excellent... the 32 minutes of advertising must add to the whole feel of it :hehe:

The ending is meant to leave you thinking and questioning the nature of reality. There isn't a definitive answer.

The important question is not “Is Cobb still dreaming?” – What is important is the fact that Cobb goes from being a bloke who is obsessed with “knowing what’s real” to ultimately being a person who stops questioning and accepts what makes him truly happy as what’s real. Wether it is or isn't.

I'll said it before and I'll say it again. If you've never seen Memento, hire it tomorrow (not tonight obviously). It's as complex - more so really.

Christopher Nolan is a brilliant film maker.

Gives you time to give your head a break (you need it in this film) and go and have a piss and get another beer.

Isn't that the point of TV advertising?

Interesting... and if you're watching it in a cinema (the only place, so I'm told, that a movie is worth watching) what happens there?

No, this is yet another reason I just don't watch commercial TV... not only are ads an insult to my intelligence, they interrupt the mood of a movie. EDIT: The only analogy that springs to mind is it would be just like having sexual intercourse with a partner who breaks every few minutes to ring her/his mother and proceeds to speak loudly about her/his bowel problems

PS: I didn't need a break while watching Inception... and why would you?

Cinema? Easy.

Check the running time, make sure you have a wee before you go in, carry a six pack in in your bag. Drink it. Make sure you've checked the running time because I have a quite amazing bladder, but a three hour film will test even me with a giant frozen coke, bottle of water and a six pack. Shorter film - easy.

Sure TV isn't my preferred option and ads can break up the flow, but it's the only place Inception is playing today. Plus I've seen Inception so many times I can easily keep the flow going in my head.

If you don't think Inception didn't need a serious mental review every so often, I think you just sat through it.
